Basem (Bas) is a clinical and school psychologist serving children, adolescents, and adults. He earned his Master of Science in Clinical and Counselling Psychology from Springfield College, USA. Bas brings a wealth of experience from diverse clinical settings, including hospitals, community mental health, school boards, and private practice. He maintains excellent relationships with various community partners, including medical and healthcare professionals, mental health agencies, and educational institutions. He provides thorough psychological assessments highlighting strengths and needs with tailored recommendations.

With a PhD in Health Services, Bas is an Assistant Professor at the University of Guelph’s Department of Population Medicine. He holds adjunct appointments at the University of Guelph’s Psychology Department, the University of Waterloo’s School of Public Health Sciences and Laurentian University’s Centre for Research in Occupational Safety & Health. His research focuses on mental health in the workplace, where he leads the University of Guelph’s Research in Occupational Health & Wellness Lab. Bas and his team have numerous peer-reviewed publications in scientific journals and have successfully acquired federal and industry funding. In addition to his research endeavours, Bas teaches ethics and communication to student veterinarians and research methods to master’s and doctoral-level students. Bas also sits on various well-being committees at the University of Guelph.

Bas is deeply committed to mentoring students and trainees as a clinician and educator. He oversees the research of undergraduate, master’s, doctoral, and post-doctoral trainees at the University of Guelph. At Uplift Psychology, Bas supervises a team of highly qualified individuals, including psychometrists, doctoral students, and clinicians who meet the eligibility criteria for registration with the College of Psychologists of Ontario.

Beyond his professional life, Bas finds solace in spending quality time with his family. As a former Canadian amateur boxing champion, he maintains a profound appreciation for the “sweet science” and continues to embrace an active, health-conscious lifestyle.
